FAQ
Questions, answered.
What VC is, how it handles your code, and how plans work.
General
What is VC?
An app for running coding agents. A small server on your computer drives provider CLIs such as Codex, Claude Code and Cursor, and the desktop, web and mobile apps connect to it so you can follow and steer the work.
How is VC related to T3 Code?
VC is an independent project based on T3 Code. The original MIT license and copyright notice are preserved.
Does VC include its own AI model?
No. Every agent, including Master Agent, runs on a provider and account you configure. VC adds no markup to model usage.
Getting started
What do I need?
A computer running macOS, Windows or Linux for your agents, and at least one provider CLI installed and signed in — you can set providers up after the first launch. Command-line, SSH and WSL hosts also need Node.js; the install guide lists supported versions.
Do I need a VC account?
To host agents from the desktop app, sign in with a VC account. Connecting to an existing server with a pairing link needs no account.
macOS won't open the app. What now?
The Mac installer is not notarized by Apple yet. If you downloaded it from our download page, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway. The Mac install guide walks through it.
Providers & usage
Which agents does VC support?
Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Grok, OpenCode and Antigravity, plus Devin, Command Code and CLIs such as Kimi, Qwen, Hermes, Kiro CLI, Cline and Qoder. Each runs its own CLI with your own login.
Do I still need a provider subscription?
Yes. VC drives the Codex, Claude, Cursor or Grok plan you already have. A VC plan covers VC's own features.
Can I use several accounts with one provider?
Yes. Add a provider instance in Settings → Providers for each account or configuration. Each instance can have its own environment variables, such as an API key or base URL.
Can I see what my agents use?
Usage shows tokens, cache savings and an estimated API-equivalent cost for turns run through VC. It is an estimate, not your subscription bill, and provider limits also count activity outside VC.
Privacy & safety
Where does my code go?
It stays on the machine that runs your VC server. Prompts and files you send go to that thread's provider. VC's own services handle only what a feature you enable needs, such as your account or a VC Connect connection.
Is my code used to train AI models?
VC does not use your source code, prompts or agent responses to train models. Your provider's terms apply to what you send it.
Can an agent run commands without asking?
That depends on the thread's permission mode. New threads start in Full access; choose Supervised, Auto-accept edits or Auto in the composer to approve commands or edits first.
Can I undo what an agent did?
Each turn ends in a checkpoint. Open its diff to see what changed, and restore an earlier state when you need to.
Remote & devices
How do I use VC from my phone or another computer?
Connect through VC Connect, your own Cloudflare Tunnel, or a one-time pairing link on your local or private network. The desktop app can also start VC on an SSH host.
Does my computer need to stay on?
Yes. Agents run on the host, so it has to stay on and reachable. On macOS and Linux, VC runs as a background service, so agents keep working after you close the app.
How do I remove a device I no longer use?
Revoke paired clients in Settings → Connections. Account sessions are listed under Security in the portal, where you can sign out one session or all others.
Plans & billing
Is the download really free?
Yes. Download VC and use it on the free plan for as long as you like. Upgrade only when you need more.
How do I pay?
Choose a plan in the portal and check out with PayPal. Your payments, refunds and invoices are listed there too.
How do I upgrade or cancel?
Sign in to the portal and pick a plan. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you paid for, and you can resume the plan before then.
